this thing was heavy when it showed up to the door fedex just dropped and ran i was worried it might have been damaged thankfully the interior packaging was great a lot of styrofoam as for the exterior though fedex destroyed that. on the shelf it self i have a 61 panasonic dlp on this and it supports it really well and a give enough space front back and sides for air to circulate around the tv. the glass shelf's are strong and sturdy i have 3 kids that have pretty much thrown hit and dropped things on them and they haven't shattered yet for the price and quality i would buy this again if i need a new one
Customer Review: Very nice stand but...
Purchased this stand about a week ago. Was delivered quickly and was easy to assemble. Looks great holding my Samsung 61" DLP and PS3. The bad thing was, one of the side wood planks came cracked and the top shelf had some knicks and dents. Not very noticible but still not what I expected for a brand new item. I take some blame for not fully inspecting all the pieces before tearing up the box it came in.
With the advent of flat screen television, the whole concept of how an entertainment center looks has changed. Earlier, TV Stands were bulky with a big space left in the centre for placing the television set. Such entertainment centers were also required to have ample width in order to accommodate the television. However, now-a-days it is possible to build slim TV stands due to availability of flat screen TVs. Flat screen TV stands are all the rage now as more and more consumers are choosing them over traditional models. The reason for their popularity is that they are both space saving and also available in various elegant designs.
Another reason for choosing them is that an average flat screen TV is 32 inches. This is why, traditional TV stands cannot accommodate them. Therefore, when you choose a one, you by default need to select a flat screen TV stand. You can also choose to wall mount but you will still need apparatus to accommodate your other entertainment media equipment related to it. Therefore, it is advisable that you select a stand that has ample storage options.
When buying flat screen TV stands you must plan to get one that is at least two to three times larger than your current need of storage. The reason for buying a bigger stand is not extravagance, rather foresight. The way entertainment media and technology is advancing, it is fair to assume that within the next two years you will accumulate a large amount of media. If you buy a flat screen TV stand only according to your current requirement, you may feel the need of upgrading it soon. This will prove to be an unnecessary cost and also it may be difficult to match a new one with your furniture and dcor later. However, if you feel buying a bigger than necessary TV Stand is not possible due to either lack of space or lack of funds, you can decide on a flat TV screen stand appropriate for your need, and then develop a habit of going through your accumulated media every few months and discarding obsolete stuff.
